New Year at Austin Local EventsThe New Year is almost here! If you want to get out of your apartment and celebrate, the Austin area has a lot to offer. From rooftop parties to formal balls, here's a look at some of the top choices for New Year celebrations.

1. NYE 1976
1500 E 6th St, Austin

Take a step back in time and enjoy covers of famous bands like KISS, Queen, Patti Smith and Heart. Held at Hotel Vegas and its neighboring sister bar, The Volstead, this event features music on three stages, along with specials on food and drinks. The event starts at 7 p.m. on December 31, and tickets are sold online.

2. Gatsby's House
700 San Jacinto Blvd, Austin

If you've read the Great Gatsby or seen the movie remake, you've probably always dreamed of attending one of Gatsby's lavish parties. This is your chance! Hosted at the Omni Austin Hotel, this New Year’s party will take you back to the 1920s with unique decorations, mixed drinks at multiple bars and top Austin DJs. Tickets include 4 hours of open bar, appetizers, party favors and period-appropriate games. The party starts at 9 p.m. on December 31, and tickets start at $135 per person.

3. The Goblin King's New Year's Eve Ball
705 Red River St, Austin

Take a peek through the looking glass into the world of Alice in Wonderland during this unique New Year's celebration at Elsyium. The ball will feature dance music from Labyrinth, David Bowie and others. For $30 you get a reserved seat, drink specials, a table chiller and champagne bottle service. For $40, you can add exclusive seating with snacks to the experience! Tickets are available online, and the event starts at 9 p.m. on December 31.

4. Austin's Best New Years Party
11600 Manchaca Rd, Austin

Lace up your skates and head to Austin Roller Rink for a night of skating along to your favorite tunes. This event lasts from 9 p.m. on December 31 until 2 a.m. on January 1. Tickets are only $15 per person plus fees, and there will be an awesome balloon drop to ring in the New Year. Feel free to wear a costume and BYOB if you prefer!

5. New Year's Eve Masquerade Ball
2312 San Gabriel St, Austin

Hosted by Austin Swing Syndicate at The Mansion, this ball is a great chance to dress up in your finest and whirl around the room. Don't forget your mask; the more unique, the better. There will be live music by Dan Walton & The Jump Cats, along with swing dance lessons at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $40 per person and include appetizers, desserts and a champagne toast at midnight. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. on December 31.
