Thanks to the advances in technology in today’s business world, networking has never been easier or more important. With sites like LinkedIn, businessmen and women from all over the world can ditch the old-fashioned Rolodex and connect with millions of other professionals at the click of a button. And while it’s nice to have an online network full of these virtual connections these days, it’s even better to have a local network full of personal connections. You know what they say, “it’s not about what you know, but who you know in business,” and it’s always great to have a few close connections in your own backyard. That being said, to help you connect with some of the many local business professionals, we’ve highlighted a few of the best professional networking opportunities in Corpus Christi.
1. Young Business Professionals of the Coastal Bend
Are you an outgoing business professional in your 20s or 30s looking for other likeminded people? The Young Business Professionals of the Coastal Bend is right up your alley. The group is affiliated with Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and helps young professionals not only network with each other, but also receive mentorship from experienced businessmen and women. The group meets several times a month for various networking and social events so check their calendar to find an event that works for you.
2. Corpus Christi Small Business Owners
If you’re a small business owner that wants to share ideas and network with other small business owners in the area, make sure you attend an event for the Corpus Christi Small Business Owners. The group meets every Monday for a “networking and lunch” event, along with several other meetings randomly throughout the month. They’re always looking for new group members and presenters so don’t hesitate to join!
SCORE is a nonprofit association that provides free business mentoring services and seminars to entrepreneurs and small business owners. And while the goals of their events are often more learning-focused than networking, each event still provides an excellent opportunity to network with other business professionals in the area. For example, on September 11th, check out their event “60 Ways to Grow Your Contact List” hosted at the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) offices.
Whether you’re a marketer, entrepreneur, or small business owner, these events will help you make some valuable local connections. If none of these groups or events sound like a good fit, however, check out the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce Events Calendar to see the other business-related events in the area.
