A few weeks ago, we told you about some fun holiday events going on in Corpus Christi. Hopefully you had a chance to go to a few of them, but if you’re already getting burnt out from the holiday season, there are still plenty of other fun things to do. If you’re looking for an escape from the Christmas music, holiday decorations, and other celebrations, make sure you check out a few of these upcoming events:
After finishing 2nd in the conference last year with a 14-4 record, the Islanders look to continue their rise to the top of the Southland Conference. Led by last year’s leading scorer and senior point guard, John Jordan, the Islanders are hoping to make their first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2007. They’ll have to go through Stephen F. Austin University, who went undefeated in conference play last year, but the Islanders have started the season off strong with an early win against St. Louis University – a 5th seed in last year’s NCAA Tournament. Single game ticket prices start at just $8 for adults and can be purchased from the American Bank Center box office.
Whether you’re a TV buff or just looking for a good a laugh, make sure you head out to Chuckles Comedy Club to see former “Diff’rent Strokes” star Todd Bridges and former “Breaking Bad” star Steven Michael Quezada. Todd Bridges will be performing 2 shows each night on December 13th and 14th, and Steven Michael Quezada will be performing with special guest Mike Robles on January 16th and 17th. Ticket prices start at just $16 and can be purchased online here.
Remember when we told you about the best breweries in Corpus Christi? Well, Lazy Beach has created a new Session IPA and they’re ready to share it with all you hopheads. Starting at 7 pm on December 13th, Lazy Beach will be kicking off their new brew at the Padre Island Burger Company. This IPA was made with 5 different American hops to create a smooth bitterness and delicious flavor that you’re sure to enjoy. There’s also word that a live band will be there as well, so tell your friends and mark your calendars!
Start off your new year in the coolest way possible! On January 1st, hundreds of brave Texans will take the polar plunge to help raise funds for ALS research. If you missed out on the Ice Bucket Challenge, now is your chance to get in on the action and help out a good cause. They’re only a few hundred dollars away from their $5,000 goal, so grab your friends and start your new year on a fun, positive note. All registered participants will receive a fuzzy polar bear hat and mittens, and you can register and donate online here.
