June 16 is National Fresh Veggies Day, so what better time to plan a trip to one of these wonderful local farmers markets?

1. Longmont Farmers Market

Regulars at the Longmont Farmers Market enjoy the under-the-radar vibe that makes it feel like a local treasure. Popular weekly features include live music, free kids' activities and a food court, and artisan shows are held the fourth Saturday of the month. The market is located on the Boulder County Fairgrounds, so free parking is plentiful, and there is also a complimentary bike valet service. Hours are 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. each Saturday through November 17.

2. Four Seasons Farmers & Artisans Market
7043 W 38th Ave, Wheat Ridge

True to its name, Four Seasons is a year-round indoor market. During the summer, the facility expands with the Ridge at 38 Outdoor Market. Bring your leashed dog along to stroll among the stalls offering fresh produce and baked goods, kids' activities and free popcorn and coffee. Hours for the Ridge at 38 are 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. each Saturday through October 20.

3. Farmers Market at Fairgrounds Park
700 S Railroad Ave, Loveland

The slogan of Loveland's market says it all: "Find Your Fresh." In addition to the dozens of produce, baked goods and artisan vendors, the Fairgrounds Park market hosts some of the area's top food trucks. Check out the food demonstrations for ideas on preparing the items you take home. Hours are 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. each Sunday through September 30.

4. 40 West Farmers Market
6759 W Colfax Ave, Denver

While all farmers markets are focused on providing locally sourced products, 40 West aims to be a true neighborhood partner. They support miniature organic farms and the local arts community by offering discounted fees. In addition, during market hours everything is 100% recycled and composted. Hours are 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. each Saturday through October 6.

5. South Pearl Street Farmers Market
1500 S Pearl St, Denver

What began in 2001 as a single day market featuring just 10 vendors has grown into a festival that spans summer and fall and hosts more than 100 vendors. Thousands of visitors come to experience the market along with special events such as car shows, pet adoption fairs, chili cook-offs and the flea markets held the last Sunday of the month. Hours are 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. each Sunday through November 18.
