Owner Pete Schones' grandfather opened Denver's first professional bike shop in the mid-1960s, and his parents founded a bike shop of their own in 1984. Small Planet has been instrumental in promoting the use of ebikes in Boulder County. In fact, the city of Boulder has purchased several ebikes from Small Planet for staff use. The slogan of this cleverly named shop is, "Saving the Planet, One Pedal at a Time." Days Roll By specializes in classic and vintage bicycles, and reconditions used bikes to give them new life. Hours are 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon – 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Where else can you relax and sip on a freshly-ground espresso drink while your bike is getting a full tune-up? Adventures Unlimited sells and rents mountain, road and city bikes and features a service department for maintenance and repairs. Their on-site cafe offers coffees, teas and fruit smoothies along with bottled water, snacks and other nutrition supplies. Hours are 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The bike shop opened by Pete Schones' parents in 1984 lives on today as Adventure Cycling under the ownership of Erik Swanson, an experienced competitive cyclist. Adventure Cycling offers unique features such as a dedicated Fit Studio and the Fixit, a permanent work station where customers can complete DIY repairs when the shop is closed. Hours are 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday except Wednesday, when the shop closes at 5 p.m.
