Pet-Shelters-NOLA.jpgAt Springs at River Chase and Springs at Fremaux Town Center, we offer the benefit of living in luxury apartment homes that are pet-friendly. If you don't already have a pet in your life, or if you're looking to add another, we encourage you to consider adopting.

Here are several excellent pet adoption centers and shelters near our Springs Apartments communities that just might be the place for you to meet your new best friend.

1. St. Tammany Humane Society
20384 Harrison Ave, Covington, LA

The St. Tammany Human Society is one of the largest non-profit animal welfare organizations in the state, and they offer the services of fostering, veterinary care and adoption for needy animals throughout the region, with a focus on animals in St. Tammany, Washington, Tangipahoa and St. Helena Parishes. It’s also a no-kill shelter, which means animals are not put down if they do not find a home quickly or because their breed is considered "dangerous."

2. St. Tammany Animal Resource Team
P.O. Box 1186, Madisonville, LA

This rescue goes by the acronym S.T.A.R.T., and is unique in that it uses a foster system, rather than a shelter system to house pets while they await adoption. This can help keep pets more calm and also provides the chance to evaluate behavior in a calm setting, and work on training. Available pets are listed on the rescue's website, and you can make an appointment to meet one that piques your interest after filling out an application.

3. St. Francis Animal Sanctuary
97 Obed Magee Rd, Tylertown, MS

While located in Mississippi, SFAS serves Louisiana's Northshore, including the Greater New Orleans area, in addition to Southern Mississippi. This no-kill shelter specializes in rescuing pets that are facing death, providing them rehabilitation, love and affection so that they can make good pets for people like you. They also provide shelter to more than 150 pets whose families are going through difficult times, like job or home loss.

If you adopt a pet, be sure to take advantage of our pet-friendly amenities, like the fenced-in pet play yards and pet salons to make your new friend feel at ease in its new home.
