Are you a fan of rock? A lover of jazz? No matter what genre suits your fancy, you're sure to find some toe-tapping or head-banging live performances in the Oklahoma City area. Here are some small live music venues you might want to check out.
This all-ages music venue features both smaller, local bands and bigger names. Tickets can be purchased through their website or at the door (if the show is not sold out). Their concert schedule varies with most shows happening on weekends, but they do have some mid-week performances, too. 89th Street Collective tends toward rock and alternative bands, and they draw a young, energetic crowd in their standing-room-only hall. They offer a full bar with beer, wine, and mixed drinks.
The Blue Door is a small, intimate listening room where you can catch a lot of individual musicians and up-and-coming artists. You'll hear a lot of acoustic and indie performances, and this venue's small size supports a lot of audience interaction, too. The Blue Door is a BYOB establishment that allows guests to bring in beer and wine only.
3. The Blue Note 2408 N Robinson Ave 13.8 miles from Springs at May Lakes
The Blue Note has a bar-like atmosphere where you can grab a beer with friends while listening to a great show. They feature musicians across an array of genres, from country to rock. Over the years, The Blue Note has hosted some great bands including The Flaming Lips and Other Lives. Their food menu offers classic bar options like burgers and fries, and they feature shows every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
If you like country and folk-style music, then you have to visit Whiskey Chicks. They host live bands every night from Tuesday – Sunday, and there are pool tables and a mechanical bull to keep you entertained for hours. There's typically a $5 cover charge on Fridays and Saturdays. With a full food menu, this is a great place to sit and casually enjoy a show with a big group or a few friends.
5. Saints Pub 1715 NW 16th Street H 13.6 miles from Springs at Memorial
With a pub-style atmosphere, Saints feels almost like your own living room. You can enjoy a pint of Guinness and a great Shepherd's pie while you listen to local musicians and bands on stage. They feature many Irish and rock bands, but venture into other genres once in awhile, too. There's never any cover charge, and they're open for dinner every night of the week.
