What does swimming have in common with moving to a new city? The best way to learn is to dive right in! Whether you want to partake in a favorite interest or explore a new one, you'll find plenty of opportunities at these lively San Antonio social groups.
Since 1981, Newcomers has been helping fledgling San Antonio residents "bloom where they're planted." The group has grown from a handful of people meeting over coffee to a membership of more than 200. In addition to luncheon meetings on the first Thursday of each month and coffee meetings on the third Thursday, Newcomers supports a number of special interest groups focusing on activities such as golf, books and movies, gardening and line dancing.
Not only is ACSA a great place to meet people, it's a way to learn about all the amazing outdoor and social activities in and around San Antonio. Sponsored events cover the full range of activities from skydiving and mountain biking for adrenaline junkies to sporting events and wine tastings for more "grounded" individuals. ACSA is open to singles as well as couples and memberships are available by the month, quarter, half-year or year.
Over the last few years, bike riding has grown in popularity as a way to stay fit, and it’s an eco-friendly means of exploring the city and region. Social Ride sponsors outings for singles, couples and families along with cycling-centric events such as fundraising bike sales for charity and their annual Fiesta with live music, food trucks, raffles and contests. The Social Ride Facebook page is a good source of information about laws and other information relevant to the local cycling community.
4. Women and Wine on Wednesdays
Women today have their hands full with families, jobs and other responsibilities. Take some time for yourself with Women and Wine on Wednesdays, an informal networking group to connect with other women and form personal and professional relationships. The group meets on the third Wednesday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Nectar Wine Bar & Ale House, and the only dues are whatever you choose to eat or drink.
Pet ownership creates an immediate bond between people. Biscuits and Beer aims to hold at least one event per month at a dog-friendly bar in San Antonio. Other events may be either dog-focused or people-focused so membership is open to anyone interested in making new friends, whether or not you're a pet owner.
Are you a movie buff new in town and you hate going by yourself? SA Movie Lovers’ Club has more than 600 members who share your passion. The group schedules viewings at movie theaters all across San Antonio as well as film festivals, outdoor screenings and other special venues.
We love having a close-knit community, so all of our Springs San Antonio management teams plan periodic on-site social events for our residents to add to the fun. Please come and join us!
