Fun Festivities for the Holidays in Tulsa

November 26, 2015

Holiday_Activities_Tulsa.jpgIt's time to deck the halls and trim the tree. Whether you've lived in the Tulsa area for your entire life or you're a relatively new kid on the block, it's not likely that you’ve already found all the things to do here during the holidays. Here are some activities that you’ll want to make a part of your holiday festivities this year.

Winterfest

This annual event runs from November 27 to January 17 in beautiful downtown Tulsa. You can enjoy outdoor ice skating, carriage rides, live entertainment, and views of twinkling lights all around. Winter doesn't last too long in Tulsa, but we celebrate every bit of it!

Christkindlmarkt

Celebrate the holidays, German-style, at this annual Christmas event sponsored by the German American Society of Tulsa. Christkindlmarkt is a German tradition dating back to 1692, when the city square is decorated for the holidays and vendors come to the outdoor market with German food, nutcrackers, and imported German Christmas tree ornaments. Meanwhile, St. Nicklaus walks among the booths to delight children. This year's Christkindlmarkt is December 4-6.

Nutcracker Ballet

What holiday season is complete without attending a performance of the Nutcracker? The Tulsa Ballet will be performing this classic story of a fairytale Christmas when a young girl's toys come to life. The Tulsa Ballet offers performances this year on December 11-13 and 18-20.

A Christmas Carol

Some stories tell the spirit of the holidays, and Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is a classic for good reason. Come and see the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, performed by the American Theatre Company in Tulsa. The show will be performed on many dates so one is sure to fit within your schedule.
