1. Chacho's Tacos

Chacho's Tacos definitely subscribes to the "bigger is better" philosophy with their 14" homemade tortillas. Their Weenie and Egg breakfast taco made Texas Monthly's list of the best tacos in Corpus Christi. Diced hot dogs add an all-American twist to the scrambled egg filling. Looking for something heartier? Try the Almighty Chacho's Taco, with its mix of carne guasada, potatoes, eggs, refried beans, bacon and cheddar that weighs in at a hefty 3.5 pounds. Chacho's is open until 2 p.m. seven days a week.

2. Nano's Taco Run

If you like heat, you'll love Nano's signature homemade hot sauce, which keeps customers coming back for more. The menu features daily specials of a la carte breakfast tacos along with breakfast and lunch combos including beans, rice or hash browns, tortillas and coffee or tea. Running late for work? Swing by their convenient drive-thru window. Nano's is open until 3 p.m. seven days a week.

3. Hi-Ho Restaurant

Hi-Ho has been a Corpus Christi institution for years. It's well-known as the favorite restaurant of beloved Tejano singer Selena, whose picture still hangs on the wall. Their most popular taco is the aptly named “Suicide,” which includes massive amounts of eggs, chorizo, bacon, potatoes, beans and cheese.

4. Senor Jaime's Mexican Restaurant & Cantina

If you're having a romantic evening out or meeting friends for dinner and drinks, head to Senor Jaime's. Start off with a classic Partida Margarita mixed tableside. Enjoy a meal of five taco "sliders" or try the puffy tacos with their crispy outside, soft inside shell. Senor Jaime's is open until 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 4 p.m. Sunday.

5. Kiko's Mexican Food

Kiko's has been serving hungry Corpus Christi diners for more than 30 years. Get a taste of the sea with their mahi mahi or spicy sautéed shrimp tacos. Stop by and unwind after work with $1 Margaritas during Happy Hour between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Kiko's is open until 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
