Traditional or Mini? Take Your Pick at 5 Great Corpus Christi Golf Courses

Golf is a game that can be played by men, women and kids of nearly all ages and athletic ability. A golf course is an appropriate setting for casual business "meetings," family outings and social get-togethers with friends.

Corpus Christi has its share of both traditional and mini golf courses within convenient distance of our Springs Apartments community. Here are some of our favorite places to hit the links.

This unique indoor mini golf course features a glow-in-the-dark course. Play two rounds of 18 holes for only $10. Galaxy Glow is open until 9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and until 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Oso Beach is only minutes away from downtown Corpus Christi, but you'll feel miles away from the city at this stunning golf course. Walk the same fairways where legendary golfers like Ben Hogan and Sam Snead have gone. Are you up to the challenge of signature Hole #13, where your shot goes over water and into the wind? Book tee times up to 10 days in advance.

Mini golf is just one of the attractions at Funtrackers, an amusement center that includes go-karts, bumper boats, batting cages and an arcade. The newly remodeled 18-hole course boasts a tropical theme with palm trees and gentle streams. Take a break for some pizza and burgers at Raceway Cafe. The course opens every day at 11 a.m., except for Sunday when it opens at noon.

Lozano's gently rolling greens are interspersed with water and bunkers, resulting in an entertaining and scenic course. Grounds include an 18-hole regulation course along with a nine-hole executive course where you can get in a quick game with limited time. The executive course is also the setting for FootGolf, a new game that's a cross between golf and soccer.

Palmilla Beach is about a 30-minute drive from Springs Corpus Christi, but well worth it. This 18-hole Arnold Palmer Signature Course was named one of the Best Hidden Gem Courses in Texas by Golf Magazine. Enjoy the spectacular Gulf of Mexico view and gentle ocean breezes from the fairways built to incorporate the dunes and other natural elements. Unwind afterwards over dinner and drinks at Black Marlin Bar & Grill.
