Explore Springs Apartments
It’s the time of year many of us are reminded of how much we have and, on the other hand, of the challenges faced by so many – some right in our own neighborhoods. Springs Apartments has residential communities in 25 locations throughout the U.S. (and counting!), and we’re familiar with non-profit organizations in each whose missions are to help improve the lives of both individuals and the communities as a whole.
If you’re looking for ways to share your “time, talent or treasure” with others this holiday season, we’ve put together a list of organizations you might be interested in supporting. Springs Apartments is not affiliated with any listed here; we simply wanted to showcase some of those helping make cities across the country great places to live and work.
During the past year, Feeding America provided more than 27 million meals to families, children and elderly in need. Feeding America has a network of food banks providing food to more than 46 million individuals through 60,000 food pantries and meal programs across the country.
Disabled American Veterans & Warrior Transition Battalion
Both of these organizations provide important programs and services to help meet the many challenges and needs of injured service members and their families. The Warrior Transition Battalion is one of the organizations that’s very special to Springs. Their mission is to keep families together when a soldier must come to Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio for treatment. Often, service men and women have to leave families behind as they undergo treatment because they can’t afford to pay for housing in both places. Springs Apartments gives some of these families a chance to stay together during treatment by providing an apartment (one at each of our four San Antonio communities) at no cost for a period of time.
Ronald McDonald House Charities
Working through local chapters, Ronald McDonald House Charities has helped nearly 9 million families every year stay together – in a place that feels like home – while a child is undergoing treatment at a healthcare facility.
American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA)
This organization works to end animal abuse and neglect, through education, medical care, and rescue, adoption and welfare programs.
There are Habitat for Humanity programs all over the country, working to ensure healthy, affordable places people can call home. Supporting this organization “helps break the cycle of poverty and long-term financial security.”
Did you know that 15 million kids leave school only to go to any empty house? Boys & Girls Clubs of America provides “a safe place to learn and grow,” with life-enhancing programs and character development experiences. They do this through health and life skills training, education and career programs, arts, sports, fitness and recreation programs and more.
There are thousands of great organizations doing good work all over the U.S. If this list doesn’t contain one that’s of interest to you, check out MyPhilanthropedia for more!
