Are you planning to relocate within the near future? Just as there are specific steps to moving in, there is a process to make your move-out as smooth as possible.
Our on-site management team has compiled a helpful checklist of steps you should take when giving notice of intent to move.
1. Reread Your Lease
Of course, you read the lease thoroughly when you moved into your Springs luxury apartment home. You're not expected to know it by heart, especially if you've been a resident for several years.
As soon as you begin considering moving out, reread the lease to confirm the amount of notice you need to provide. You should also review any clauses pertaining to move-out conditions, such as cleaning the apartment, that affect the return of your deposit.
2. Talk to Management
While we're sorry to see you go, we appreciate getting a personal heads-up about your plans. This is also a good opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the move-out procedure.
3. Write an "Intent to Vacate" Letter
An in-person visit is not an acceptable substitute for formal written notice. The letter should include your current address, the number of days notice you're giving and your move-out date. Be sure to provide your forwarding address for return of the deposit.
Giving the reason for your move is optional, but not necessary. Leave enough time to compose the letter so you can adhere to the required amount of notice.
4. Deliver Your Notice
There are two options for delivering the notice. The first is to simply visit the office and hand it to a member of our management team. You can also mail it and request signed delivery if you want hard-copy documentation. Allow at least a week to ensure timely delivery.
Whichever option you choose, make sure you have a copy for your records before making delivery.
Our management team is committed to providing you with excellent service throughout your entire residence at Springs, and we're happy to assist with any questions you may have about the move-out procedure.
