What You Need to Know About Changing Your Address

Change-of-Address-TC.jpgWhen you move into one of our luxury apartment homes at Springs at Apple Valley or Springs at Egan Drive, transferring your possessions is only part of the process. Many valuable services could come to a screeching halt if you don't notify the relevant people about your change of address.

It's no surprise that prior planning will make this task more efficient. Here's a helpful checklist of steps to keep you on track.

Who Needs to Be Notified?

  • Start building lists of people and companies to be notified. Separate them by categories, such as friends and family or financial institutions.
  • Even if you're relocating to a different city or state, notify local providers such as doctors and utility companies. There may be records or other information that needs to be forwarded to you in the future.
  • Don't forget about virtual services and providers. Be sure to change your address with online pharmacies or any other companies you use regularly.

Submitting Change of Address

  • The biggest step is notifying the post office. You can submit the change in person or online at USPS.com.
  • Phone calls should be backed up with written notice. Bills, magazines and other sources usually have a specific section or a mail-in card for turning in a change of address.
  • Don't wait until you move to change your address. Begin submitting notifications as soon as you have a definite move-in date.
  • Your auto and renters insurance premiums are likely to change. When you notify them of your move, be prepared to answer questions about your new location.
