4th of July Events around New OrleansWith the 4th of July just days away, it’s time to get ready for bold excitement clad in red, white and blue. If you don’t have something on your calendar yet, consider these top picks in the New Orleans area.

1. Go 4th on the River
Tuesday, July 4 — French Quarter, New Orleans 

If you’re looking for an over-the-top Independence Day celebration, New Orleans is the place to be. Dueling barges shoot off fireworks on the Mississippi River to patriotic music synced by Magic 101.9, WWL AM 870, and FM 105.3. You can snag a spot at any point along the riverfront for an unforgettable view of the action.

2. Four on the 4th
July 4 — 1000 W 15th Ave, Covington

Four on the 4th is four-mile race that takes place on Independence Day every year. Limited to just 400 participants, this event offers a great opportunity to benefit local charities while joining others in a fun event. In addition to the race itself, the event will also include door prizes, music, awards and a fun Budweiser bikini beer mile race.

3. Slidell Heritage Festival
Saturday, July 1 — Heritage Park, 1701 Bayou Ln, Slidell

This year will mark the 20th annual Slidell Heritage Festival. The event includes live music, delicious food vendors, miniature pony rides, a petting zoo, inflatables, arts and crafts, and more. Admission is just $10 with proceeds benefiting six local charities. At 9 p.m., you can catch a stunning fireworks display that will let you celebrate Independence Day a little early.

4. Mandeville City Seafood Festival
July 4 — Fontainebleau State Park, 62883 LA-1089, Mandeville

The Mandeville City Seafood Festival serves up delicious food, fun craft vendors and live entertainment. Taking to the stage for the 2017 festival, you’ll find Jefferson Starship, Grass Roots, Four Unplugged and Supercharger. When you’re not taking in the performances, you can bring the family over to enjoy the bungee jump, rock climbing wall, hamster balls, inflatables, rides, and more. Don’t miss the fireworks capping off the night. Tickets are just $20 for adults and $10 for kids.
