1. Animal Rescue New Orleans

If you have a love for animals, the Animal Rescue New Orleans needs your help. This volunteer-based shelter has a variety of essential duties that need to be performed on a regular basis. As a volunteer, you can assist with washing pet dishes, cleaning litter boxes, doing laundry, sanitizing cages and carriers, walking dogs and handling light housekeeping tasks. Volunteers are also needed to staff booths occasionally at special events. You can fill out an application online to get started.

2. The Roots of Music

The Roots of Music is an organization that empowers youth through mentorship and music education. The charity also provides academic support to help students keep up with their schoolwork. Children between the ages of 9 and 14 from low-income families can participate in the program and receive instrumental education, hot meals and transportation to easily facilitate participation in the ensemble.

If you’re interested in volunteering with The Roots of Music, you can generously donate your time to assist students with homework, studying, and school projects. Help these young musicians succeed in their academic efforts by lending your own expertise and support.

3. St. Tammany Humane Society

Less than 15 minutes from our Springs at River Chase apartment community, the St. Tammany Humane Society offers great volunteer opportunities for our Covington residents. Volunteers are needed to provide care for cats and dogs, assist with surgeries, handle administrative duties, help maintain the property and staff special events. You must complete orientation before you can begin work.

4. Slidell Memorial Hospital
1001 Gause Blvd, Slidell

Slidell Memorial Hospital has a diverse range of volunteer opportunities. Less than a ten-minute drive from our Springs at Fremaux Town Center apartments, this is an ideal spot for those who want a convenient way to give of their time this holiday season. You can find a fit for nearly any talent, whether you’re interested in staffing the gift shop, providing clerical support, visiting with patients or assisting with special events. Volunteers work in four- or five-hour shifts.
