1. Be Prepared for Dog Breed Restrictions

Most apartment communities have dog breed restrictions in place for the protection of residents and community associates. For example, Springs at South Broadway does not allow bull terriers, pit bulls, rottweilers and dobermans, and also requires proof of obedience training and a successful in-person interview for residents who own certain other dog breeds

2. You'll Need Proof of Vaccination

When you apply for an apartment, you'll typically be asked to show documentation of up-to-date vaccinations. If your pet’s shots are overdue or soon will be, visit your veterinarian before you apply.

3. Notify Your Renter's Insurance Company

Before you move into your new apartment, be sure to notify your renter's insurance company of the change in residence as it may impact your rates, especially with a pet. They may ask a few questions about your pet's breeding, vaccination records and training to ensure you're charged a fair premium amount and that your pet is fully covered by your policy.

Keep in mind that if you have a large fish tank, apartment communities may require you to carry additional insurance coverage due to risk of water damage.

4. Follow The Community Rules

To ensure our residents and their pets are able to live in harmony, Springs Apartments does have some rules we require pet owners to follow. These include cleaning up after your dog and using common courtesy in the pet playground and pet spa areas. Make sure you read over the rules upon moving in and follow them throughout your lease.

At Springs at South Broadway, we look forward to welcoming you and your pets! To learn more about our pet policy and pet-related fees and deposits, contact one of our friendly associates.
