Rochester, MN is home to a plethora of sports teams with football having a significant presence within the city. With the season in full swing, the primer below is designed to get you up to speed on the local, state and national football scene as it pertains to Rochester. 

Rochester Community and Technical College Yellowjackets

The Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) Yellowjackets participate in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) league as well as the Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC). With its artificial turf stadium surrounded by an inflatable bubble, seating for up to 4,000 fans and a 44,00 square-foot fieldhouse, the athletes on the RCTC Yellowjackets football are local favorites with a strong fan base. 

Rochester Youth Football Association

If you have a son or daughter who is interested in playing tackle or flag football, the Rochester Youth Football Association (RYFA) is a good place for them to start. Registration for their 2017 is open until the end of October. 

Minnesota Vikings

Playing this year in their new stadium, the U.S. Bank Stadium, in downtown Minneapolis, the Minnesota Vikings will also be moving to a new training camp in 2018. This new facility, located in Eagan, Minnesota, is also the team's headquarters and area property development.

Minnesota Golden Gophers

The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers football team competes in the NCAA's Division I as part of the Big Ten Conference, as do all of its sports teams. Football games are played at the team's on-campus location, the TCF Bank Stadium. The stadium is located about 1.5 hours away from Rochester. 

Minnesota State Mavericks

Minnesota State University is the home of the Minnesota State Mavericks, a NCAA Division II level football team in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
