Halloween brings out the kid in everyone, and nowhere is that more true than San Antonio, which is full of holiday activities for all ages and levels of fright tolerance. Here are some of the events we're most excited about!
1. Bud Light HalloweenFestIt's no surprise that San Antonio's most popular attraction is the site of a splashy Halloween celebration. The evening begins at 7:30 p.m. with a costume contest open to anyone age 18 or older, including couples and groups. Afterwards, the winner and a guest join in a parade along the River Walk featuring 10 professionally decorated floats with other costumed participants.
2. 13th Floor Haunted HouseCan't get enough of films like Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street? 13th Floor Haunted House puts you in the middle of a horror movie come to life. The dual attraction show has received national attention as one of the top haunted houses in the country. Warning: this event is not family-friendly.
3. Ripley's Haunted AdventureWhat better time to visit this frightful attraction brought to you by the people behind "Ripley's Believe It or Not?" The lavish multi-million dollar haunted house is inhabited by dozens of the "undead" and provides non-stop scares and surprises. Admission is $21.99 and combo tickets are available that include companion attractions Tomb Raider 3D and Guinness World Records.
4. Zoo Boo!Family fun is on the agenda for the day-long celebration at Zoo Boo. The festivities kick off at 9 a.m. with a Hay Maze and Monster Mash, followed by pumpkin painting, games and costume contests and concluding with trick-or-treating at 4 p.m. Zoo Boo is included with general admission.
5. Howl-O-ScreamThis is Sea World like you've never seen before, with a whopping five haunted houses, six "scare zones" and two signature bars for a full day of frightful fun. Admission is included with entrance to the park, and you can purchase Fear Passes that put you at the head of the line for the rides and haunted houses. Adult attendance only is recommended after 7 p.m., but there are plenty of kid-friendly activities planned during the day.
6. Mala Luna Music FestivalIf you'd rather leave the scary stuff to the kids, check out the inaugural Mala Luna Music Festival, a hip-hop and EDM showcase featuring national and local performers. The festival also supports Austin's rich musical heritage by donating a portion of the proceedings to Network for Young Artists. General admission is $89 for one day and $119 for both days, with a limited number of VIP tickets available for $399.
