Technology is so ingrained in the fabric of our society that new apps are coming out daily. There are several great apps that are perfect for apartment dwellers if you want to organize your tasks, plan your meals or find the closest happy hour. Here are some of the best apps you can load on your smart phone or tablet.

Meal Planning by Food.com (iOS, Android coming soon)

Do you get tired of having to think ahead when planning your dinner menus? Maybe you're in the mood for a particular dish but you discover that you're missing a crucial ingredient. With Meal Planning you provide information about your favorite foods, cooking styles and dietary requirements. On a day of your specification, they in turn send you a menu with five meal plans. In addition, they give you an organized shopping list that tells you what's on sale at your grocery store. Membership is available in 3-, 6- and 12-month plans. Cost ranges from $1.15 per week to $2.50 per week.

Timeful (Android)

If you have ever wished you had a personal assistant, this is the app for you. Not only does it provide a calendar and to-do list, it will actually schedule tasks for you. Timeful analyzes your activities and priorities to find pockets of time. Let Timeful know that you want to exercise three times a week, and it will make sure it happens.

AroundMe (iOS, Android)

Have you recently moved into your new Springs Apartments home? AroundMe is a virtual welcome wagon that finds the coffee shops, banks, gas stations and other stores and services that are closest to your position. Once you select a category, AroundMe pulls up a list of all locations along with their distance from you.

Nest Egg (iOS)

When you buy furniture or electronics, do the receipts and warranty information get tossed into a drawer, never to be seen again? Nest Egg allows you to build and save an inventory of your possessions, including pictures. If an item has a bar code, you can scan it to automatically enter the information. Nest Egg will alert you if a warranty is expiring or the return window for a purchase is nearing the end. You can even use it to track food and medicine expiration dates.

Happy Hour Finder (iOS, Android)

So it's been a rough day at work and all you want to do is sit with a cold drink in your hand. Pull out your phone and let Happy Hour Finder give you a list of the closest locations. Each entry even gives details such as start and end times and available specials.

What's the most unusual problem you've solved with the use of your smart phone or tablet? Tell us all about it in the comments!
