Volunteer_Opportunities_Tulsa.jpgWhether you're new to the Tulsa area or just Springs at Woodlands South Apartments, there is perhaps no better way to feel as though you're part of this dynamic community than by becoming a volunteer.

Everyone has a talent worth sharing, so in addition to the sense of satisfaction you can gain by sharing it with someone else, you can meet new people and feel a greater sense of connection to your community by volunteering. Consider some of the following organizations:

CAP Tulsa
4606 S Garnett Road

Tulsa’s early childhood education program makes it easy for people who wish to interact with children ages 3 and under. It builds schedules around your availability and offers training and educational opportunities, too. Volunteers can engage directly with children or help out behind the scenes in several roles:

  • Early childhood program volunteer, assisting teachers in the classroom
  • Tuesday Tales (reading) volunteer
  • Clerical/office assistance volunteer (for which no computer skills are needed)
  • Re-enrollment/enrollment process volunteer in the business office
  • Event volunteer on weekdays or weekends
  • Landscaping volunteer

Elder Helpers

Elder Helpers matches volunteers with the thousands of seniors spread throughout Tulsa. Once you go to the website, you'll be asked to complete a profile, complete with your interests and favorite activities. If you enjoy card games, Elder Helpers will connect with you a fellow card shark. But if you're more of the outdoorsy type, Elder Helpers will connect you with a senior who would enjoy nothing more than a brisk walk or leisurely bike ride around the block. Elder Helpers – like other volunteer venues in Tulsa – is flexible. They build a volunteer schedule around your preferences.

MicroMentor

MicroMentor matches savvy business professionals with entrepreneurs who could benefit from their advice and counsel. Some entrepreneurs need a sounding board or general industry advice; others need specific technical advice on everything from computers and technology to marketing and advertising. Volunteers are matched to accommodate these needs to create an unparalleled mentoring experience. MicroMentor credits volunteers with helping new businesses double their revenue while basking in the satisfaction of seeing businesses thrive under their tutelage. And like all volunteer opportunities, this one holds the promise of forging personal relationships that can last a lifetime.

Tulsa Performing Arts Center
10 E. 2nd Street

Every volunteer who looks back on an experience and wishes for an encore should harbor no such regrets at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, which stages dynamic productions throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to serve as ushers, help ensure the security of the center and extend the spirit of hospitality that the center exudes to people of all ages. Before the curtain goes down on another performance, potential volunteers are encouraged to visit the center's website and create a profile to specify their availability.

The volunteer opportunities are as plentiful and diverse as the residents of Springs at Woodlands South, meaning that it shouldn't be long before you find an activity that suits your talents and interests to a “T.”
