1. Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys

You don't have to be a collector of miniatures, dolls and toys to be enthralled by this one-of-a-kind museum. For more than 35 years, the museum has hosted a series of fun exhibits to show off its unique collection of more than 20,000 objects. Examples of exhibits range from vintage Star Wars toys to artisan dollhouses. These objects have been collected over many generations and show a different side of Coloradan history. 2. Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum

This hidden gem in Denver is a must-see for any aeronautical enthusiast. The museum is located in Hangar #1 of the former Lowry Air Force Base, which provided technical training to more than a million enlisted members and officers to strengthen the country's war efforts during World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Cold War. Today the space offers museum visitors 182,000 square feet of space to see aircrafts, space vehicles, artifacts and much more. The museum prides itself in offering educational opportunities to the community, including its Teacher Flight Program where teachers become equipped to inspire next-generation aeronautical leaders.

3. Children's Museum of Denver

One of the best children's museums in the country is right here in Denver. If you have young children between the ages of one and eight, visiting the Children's Museum of Denver needs to be on your bucket list. The museum offers an array of ever-changing exhibits that aim to inspire interaction and make learning fun. Current exhibits include a fire station, a grocery store, bubbles, a teaching kitchen and much more. Since it's difficult to see everything in one visit, many families choose to purchase a membership, which starts at $110 for the year. Another great way to try the museum is on Target Tuesdays where free admission is offered every first Tuesday of the month from 4 to 8 p.m.

4. Denver Firefighters Museum

This local museum is located in a 1909 firehouse and celebrates the history of firefighting in Denver by offering a variety of exhibits that visitors of all ages will appreciate. Some of the more unique offerings of the museum are the Junior Firefighters and Wee Firefighters programs and camps offered throughout the year.
