Liberty Center serves as a focal point for community activities, so it's no surprise that during summer they host a lively farmers’ market. Dozens of local vendors are on hand selling produce, flowers and baked goods with a backdrop of live music and kids' activities. While you're there, shop the dozens of national brand stores and take a lunch break at one of the great restaurants in the Center. Market hours are 3 to 7 p.m. each Tuesday through September 26.
Back in 2003, Deerfield Farmers’ Market was one of the first five markets in the Cincinnati area, started by a local resident selling homemade jams and jellies. Vendors include Cincy Urban Farm, an organization that uses eco-friendly methods to grow organic produce on previously unproductive urban grounds, and Wild Holly Farm, which uses all-natural methods to produce veggies, herbs, berries and eggs. The market is open each Saturday through October from 9 a.m. to noon.
West Chester Farmers’ Market is an example of quality over quantity. The market is relatively small, but it gets high marks from customers for the selection of products such as organic meat and specialty items like spelt flour. You can even pick up some healthy treats for Fido! Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through mid-October.
Blue Ash Farmers’ Market is almost like a different event every time you visit. The market has a core group of regular vendors, but they also host a variety of guest vendors along with live musical entertainers and food trucks each week. Take part in a yoga session or other demos and classes offered by the market. Hours are 3:30 to 7 p.m. each Wednesday through October 4.
"Historic" certainly describes Hamilton's market, which was established in 1875. In addition to fresh produce and food items, you'll find a delightful selection of one-of-a-kind gifts, accessories and home decor products made by local artists. Activities include live music and Market Buddies, a weekly crafts program for kids. The market is open 8 a.m. to noon each Sunday through mid-October.
