Live Music Venues in Corpus Christi, Texas

Though Austin might be the star of the music scene in Texas, music fans in Corpus Christi have plenty of great options to choose from as well. Whether you’re looking to catch a headlining musician at the American Bank Center or you’re simply just looking for a small, local jazz spot, Corpus Christi has a venue for all acts both large and small. In fact, here are a few of our favorites that you music lovers should check out:

Old Concrete Street Amphitheater

Set on the grounds of what used to be a 1930s concrete plant that helped construct the Corpus Christi Sea Wall, the Olde Concrete Street Amphitheater is one of the most unique music venues in the entire country! Thanks to the natural bowl shape of the plant’s old cement yard, the natural acoustics have helped transform this place into the perfect venue to catch some of the biggest acts visiting the Corpus Christi area – including upcoming performances by Fall Out Boy, Juicy J, and Judas Priest. In addition to the venue having great acoustics, most of the original trucks, cranes, and cement mixers are still standing in this industrial setting, making it one incredibly unique place to catch a show.

House of Rock

Located in the heart of downtown Corpus Christi, House of Rock has been Corpus Christi’s go-to spot for live rock music since 2005. Hosting live music every Thursday through Saturday (and sometimes on off nights), House of Rock has been home to a wide selection of local, regional, and nationally touring acts from a number of different genres. Some of their upcoming shows include performances by Hawthorne Heights, Wild Party, and Tribal Seeds, so open up your schedule and make sure you head down to the House of Rock.

Brewster Street Icehouse

Located just a short walk from the Old Concrete Street Amphitheater in Corpus Christi’s S.E.A. District (Sports, Entertainment, and Art), Brewster Street Icehouse is the #1 spot for live Texas country music. Playing host to both the small-time and big name country music acts, you’ll rarely find a weekend where there isn’t something happening at the Icehouse. And if you thought Old Concrete Street Amphitheater was cool, the Icehouse is situated in a building formerly owned by Union Pacific Railroad in the 1930s, so music lovers are sure to enjoy it’s old-timey mystique.

Doctor Rockit’s Blues Bar

Doctor Rockit’s Blues Bar is recognized as the oldest live music spot in all of Corpus Christi, serving up live music 7 nights a week since 1989. And they don’t just play the blues either! Whether you’re into reggae or rock, jazz or funk, Dr. Rockit’s is sure to play your favorite genre – as long as you’re there on the right night. Check out their Calendar of Events to stay up-to-date on their upcoming acts, and pick a night that piques your interest; we doubt you’ll leave feeling blue.

With so many great live music options in Corpus Christi, you’ll never have to spend a Friday night with nothing to do. Check out some these venues on our list, and let us know if we missed any others!
