1. AJ's on East Court

With karaoke featured seven nights a week, it's no surprise that this popular East Village bar was recently named "Best Place to Do Karaoke" by Cityview. Take a break for a friendly game of pool or relax outdoors on the patio seating. Karaoke runs from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 p.m. until 1 a.m. Sunday.

2. Jeannie's Bottle

Sign up, select your favorite song from the list and get ready to go. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m.

How can you go wrong at a place named for one of the top karaoke songs of all time? The stage is open every Wednesday night from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. Fortify yourself beforehand with some good eats from their Cajun-flavored menu.

This appropriately-named bar is one of the more recent entries on the Des Moines karaoke scene, but it's quickly become one of the favorites. Watch for their splashy karaoke contests where you have a chance to win cash prizes. Rockstar is also a great place to kick back with a plate of wings and watch the game on the big-screen TVs.
