Getting to Know the New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints is our NFL team. The Saints have been a local institution since their first season in 1967, and they won Super Bowl XLIV in 2010. Looking for someone to cheer on? According to NOLA.com, the best players on the 2017 roster are quarterback Drew Brees, defensive end Cam Jordan, wide receiver Michael Thomas, tackle Terron Armstead and running back Mark Ingram.

If you’re looking for some fun facts to throw around at the pub, try these:

  • For the right to draft running back Ricky Williams, the Saints traded every draft pick of 1999 and the first and third rounder in 2000
  • The Saints were the first team in the NFL to wear all black
  • The Saints black and gold colors are a tribute to the oil industry, which has a longstanding history in the city

Visiting the Superdome

The New Orleans Saints play in Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Superdome has hosted more Super Bowls than any other stadium, with six in its history. It covers 125 million cubic feet, making it the largest steel room in the world that doesn’t have posts obstructing it.

This is an iconic NOLA destination, and easily accessible situated less than 45 minutes from our Springs at River Chase community and 35 minutes from our Springs at Fremaux Town Center community. Catch a game in the Superdome if you can and if not, try a local sports bar for a great environment.
