Have you secretly aspired to be one of those sophisticated wine drinkers who gives the glass a swirl before inhaling the aroma? It's easy to get an inexpensive (or free!) education on wine at various tasting venues in Oklahoma City. Why not grab a group of friends and make an outing of it?

Put A Cork In It
115 E. California Oklahoma City 73104

This cleverly named winery is located in OKC's popular Bricktown district. They offer three tasting "plans" for their handcrafted wines. The first three tastings are free, and you can purchase a total of seven for $7. Buy one of their $15 souvenir wine glasses and enjoy unlimited samplings. Relax on the outdoor covered patio with its scenic view of the Bricktown Canal.

Clauren Ridge Vineyard and Winery
6000 W. Waterloo Road Edmond 73025

If you want to enjoy some European-style ambiance, take a leisurely 30-minute ride out to Clauren Ridge. Their rustic Italian tasting room overlooks the winery's crushing and fermentation area, so you may get a sneak peek of the process during harvest season. Tastings are served with bites of chocolate toffee to show how well cocoa pairs with wine. For a truly special evening, attend one of the five-course gourmet wine tasting dinners in the spectacular wine cave.

The Wild Turkey
12021 N. MacArthur Boulevard Oklahoma City 73162

The Wild Turkey is a fine beverages shop that sponsors monthly wine, beer and spirits tastings. Each event includes food specially selected to complement the drink selection. Tastings are by invitation only, but it's easy to get on the guest list. Simply enroll on their website or stop by the store and sign up. Notification is sent a few days before the event with all the particulars, and your printed invitation admits you and a guest.
