Mother’s Day is less than a week away, so make sure you have some special plans in place to celebrate mom. There are activities throughout Oklahoma City that will help you prepare gifts and plan some fun for all the mothers in your life. Here are five of our favorites.
On Saturday, May 13, head to the Science Museum Oklahoma. Here, children can participate in a free craft activity that will help them make a special gift. Each child will paint a flower bouquet using their unique handprints to create a memento for mom. The activity is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Museum admission is required.
On May 13 and 14, the Will Rogers Garden Exhibition Center is hosting a free orchid show and sale. You can see hundreds of orchids and even take some home to cherish yourself. You’ll find vendors from Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma selling live plants as well as themed artwork and accessories. Door prizes, a silent auction and raffles add to the fun.
Wheeler Ferris Wheel is hosting a special event just for moms and their families on Saturday, May 13. Activities include an interactive puppet show at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Children can also make a free upcycled flower craft for mom.
Head to the farm with mom for a special Mother’s Day. The Orr Farm offers a wealth of family-friendly activities including a zip line, train rides, petting zoo and gemstone mining. On May 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., moms get in free! Tickets for other family members are $11.50 per person.
The Sam Noble Events Center at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum is hosting a delicious Mother’s Day Brunch on May 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. You’ll find a full buffet featuring carving stations, salads, fresh vegetables and desserts. Tickets for brunch are $35.
If you’d like to stay and explore the museum, standard admission is $17.50, while children 4 years and younger are free. Pick up a gift for mom at the Museum Store for 20 percent off on Mother’s Day!
