September 11, 2017

Top Four Custard or Froyo Places in Oklahoma CitySummer may be winding down, but there are still plenty of warm days left in the Oklahoma City area. Why not treat yourself to a cool treat? There are plenty of great froyo and ice cream shops locally, but here's a look at four of our top picks.

1. Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt
600 NW 23rd St

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt is known for its unique flavors and the shop's artistic, one-of-a-kind atmosphere. Orange walls and ergonomic chairs simply demand that you enjoy your dessert in-house.

Orange Leaf's yogurt is prepared daily on site, and it's lower in calories than most ice cream and other frozen desserts. Each store offers more than 30 toppings, which you can add to your chosen flavor of froyo. Flavors are always changing, but popular options include chocolate mint, peanut butter, pumpkin and strawberry cheesecake.

2. Yogurtland
14221 N Pennsylvania Ave

Yogurtland offers delicious froyo and sorbets. They never skimp on the flavor, with top-notch choices including Blissful Banana Toffee Pie yogurt and Spicy Sweet Chili Mango sorbet. The latter is made with Alphonso mangoes from India and has a hint of heat from red cayenne peppers. Of course, they also offer classic flavors like vanilla and chocolate.

You'll find plenty of fun toppings at Yogurtland, from Oreo cookies to strawberries. If you join their Platinum Club, you'll earn points toward free frozen yogurt with every visit.

3. Freddy's Frozen Custard
7401 N May Ave

If you’re a fan of soft-serve, custard-style ice cream, then you must make the trip to Freddy's. They are known for their creamy, delicious custard, which they also make into sundaes and a dessert known as concrete—a mixture of custard and sweet treats like cookies, crushed candy bars and nuts. You can also order your custard in a waffle cone, which is guaranteed to be sweet and crispy.

Freddy's also offers burgers, fries, and hot dogs, so you can grab a whole meal if you're feeling hungry. Everything is served up in baskets, and the dining room has plenty of space.

4. Andy's Frozen Custard
15200 N Penn Crossing Ct

Another great place for custard, Andy's has been around since the 1980s. They started in Springfield, Missouri and now operate more than 50 locations, including the one in Oklahoma City. You can go through the drive through for a quick custard to go, or order at the walk-up window and stay a while.

Andy's creates new flavors for every season. In the fall, the Pumpkin Pie flavor is very popular, and summer favorites like Key Lime Pie and Peaches are still in stores for a few more weeks.
