6 Ways to Enjoy Ice Hockey This Season

From state and national league teams to those headquartered locally, this post is designed to give you all the basic information you need to have the best season in 2017-2018. 

1. Rochester Ice Hawks

As an ice hockey team that is part of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL), the Rochester Ice Hawks are a Tier III Junior A franchise. In general, the Ice Hawks play at least 45 games per season with their home games being played at the Rochester Recreation Center. In addition to hosting their home games, the Ice Hawks also offer postseason and showcase games.

2. Rochester Youth Hockey Association

The Rochester Youth Hockey Association (RYHA) provides the opportunity for youth of all ages to learn and grow in the sport of youth hockey. Beginning with Mite Hockey, the RYHA focuses on promoting sportsmanship while building the fundamental skills needed to demonstrate excellence in the game.

3. Rochester Adult Hockey League

Overseen by the Rochester Parks and Rec Department, the Rochester Adult Hockey League (RAHL) offers adults who love the game to become more than armchair fans. Leagues should be forming currently with games beginning in November. 

4. University of Minnesota Golden Gophers

The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers hosts both a women's ice hockey team and a men's ice hockey team. The women's ice hockey team has won the national championship seven times in a row. 

5. High School Teams

Several high schools in the area offer ice hockey as a winter sport for their students including Mayo High School, John Marshall High School and Century High School

6. Minnesota Wild

The Minnesota Wild is a professional team that is part of the National Hockey League's (NHL) Western Conference. It currently plays in the league's Central Division with its home games being played at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
