Quirky or Different Things to Do in Rochester, MN This Valentine's Day

As the big day approaches, we thought it might help our residents—everyone including our prospective, new and long-time community members—may need some ideas to kick up your heels, along with your special date, this Valentine's Day. Our team of hopeless romantics at here at Springs at South Broadway in South Rochester have done some brainstorming to come up with the area's three quirkiest or different things to do and places to go.

  • People All Over Rochester, Get on Board the Love Trolley!

One of the best ways to get acquainted with the city, while also celebrating the romantic holiday, is by scheduling a Romantic City & Lights Water Tour with the Rochester Trolley & Tour Company. With the popularity of this beloved Valentine's celebration, your options aren't limited to February 14th. The company has broadened the scope to encompass five days, including the 14th, so you and your date can work it in, no matter how many other Rochester romantics hop on board. The Valentine's trolley tours feature classic love songs while you two take in the sights while cozy in warm in the lighted, heated and whimsically decorated Victorian-era trolley.

  • Take In the Local History, Art and Culture at the History Center of Olmsted County

For an mid-day or afternoon date, you may enjoy strolling through the History Center of Olmsted County learn more about the beautiful Rochester region. Just a short jaunt from our apartments in Rochester, you and your date will have plenty of time to explore the center's exhibit gallery, gift shop, the Willson Library, and the Wickland Archives together after lunch or before dinner.

  • Make That a Wine Tasting for Two at Victoria's Ristorante & Wine Bar

While making a V-Day reservation at an Italian restaurant in and of itself isn't necessarily all that quirky, Victoria's Ristorante & Wine Bar has a certain je ne sais quoi...or non so cosa—we've got to keep things on the Italian theme—that we Rochesterians cherish. Victoria's has so much to love, including the outrageously filling and delicious dishes made from scratch, and extensive beer, wine and specialty drink menus. Since this cozy spot with a sense of humor and style is just over three miles from home, you two may bundle up for a romantic walk as a warm-up before dinner and drinks. This year, you can enjoy a special celebration for the day, along with Wine Up Wednesday, which includes an $8 bottomless glass of select wines.

In the End, Nothing Beats Spicing Things Up at Home

The two of you may just want to spend the night in, avoiding the piles of snow, nature's mini ice rinks and single-digit—or lower-to-much-lower—temperatures. At our apartments in Rochester, you can easily enjoy a special evening together. Take your dog on a hearty walk together at the leash-free pet playground before settling in for a movie and delicious local takeout while enjoying the snuggly warmth of your new apartment.

You never know if we, or some of our community members, might have some romantic events brewing at the community clubhouse, so you might find yourselves in the middle of a meet-and-greet. Let us know if you have any questions about the ideas we've listed, or if we can recommend any other ways to help you and your date make this V-Day utterly unforgettable.
