Who can resist an evening of good music and good friends? Chances are that whenever you're planning to go out, there is a great live show playing somewhere in Fort Myers. Start with the lively venues on this list that we've put together for you.

1. The Ranch

This 25,000 square-foot traditional Southern honky-tonk includes 1,800 square-feet of custom staging to showcase top country music acts. With more than 400 feet of bar top, the party never ends. Upcoming shows include Jon Pardi, Raven Cliff and country music icon Tanya Tucker. Bust a move out on the 4,000 square-foot dance floor where lessons are held every Wednesday at 7:15 p.m., with couples line-dancing taught at the same time Friday and Saturday nights.

2. Buckingham Blues Bar

What fits a sultry Florida night better than some down-home blues? The Buckingham has hosted shows by Pat Ramsey and the Blues Disciples, Diddley Squat Band and other top acts. Kick back with a beer or wine cooler and food from a light menu of bar favorites. There is a beautiful beer garden out back where they hold day-long blues festivals.

This elegant venue brings many of the top entertainment tours to Fort Myers, from stand-up comedians to dancers to stage shows. Upcoming music events this summer include "American Idol Live! Tour 2015" and Pink Floyd tribute band Brit Floyd's "Space & Time World Tour 2015."

4. Catch 22 Live Music and Sports Bar

With live music nightly and 20 HD flat-screen TVs to watch the big games, you may never want to leave Catch 22. The laid-back ambiance conjures up an island/Key West feel. If you would rather participate than watch, visit Catch 22 on Wednesdays for karaoke and free Texas Hold 'Em. For those times when you just want to chill, enjoy lounging on the spacious outdoor patio.

5. Fort Myers Music Walk

At 7 p.m. on the third Friday of each month, downtown's vibrant River District offers an eclectic variety of live music. Top local and regional acts perform at bars, restaurants, galleries and shops. Many businesses also provide additional attractions such as food and wine tastings.
