One of the great features of Florida is easy access to water, and Brohard Paw Park is the only dog-friendly beach in the county. There is also a fenced play area for dogs adjacent to the beach. Amenities include doggie shower facilities, drinking fountains for dogs and humans, benches, picnic tables and leash posts. Park hours are 7 a.m. to dusk seven days a week.
2. Lakeview Paw Park 7150 Lago St, Sarasota 941.861.9930 2.6 miles from Springs at Bee Ridge
The two acres of Lakeview Paw Park are covered with trees that provide plentiful shady spots. There is a separate area for dogs that weigh 20 pounds or less along with a doggie drinking fountain and shower station. If your pet is in a mellow mood, put his leash on and enjoy a walk in the main park area. Lakeview Paw Park is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
This popular dog park is within walking distance of Springs at Palma Sola. Happy Tails is a fenced-in, three-acre off-leash dog area in G.T. Bray Park. In addition to a doggie drinking fountain and free waste bags, there is a separate area for small and elderly dogs as well as a "time-out" space for overly rambunctious pets. Happy Tails is open daily from dawn until dusk.
Creekwood Canine Park has a charming pavilion that offers a shady stop for dogs and their humans. Other features include free waste bags, a doggie drinking fountain and a separate area exclusively for small, fragile and elderly dogs. Park hours are dawn to dusk daily.
