Reflecting on Our 2022 Managers' Meeting

March 24, 2022

CO Team

Earlier this month, all our Community Managers participated in the annual Managers’ Meeting, where they spent time together and with senior leadership reflecting on the past year and discussing goals to achieve moving forward. This year’s meeting was spread out into five smaller gatherings based on geographic location, and each was attended by Director of Revenue Management Marcie Bissell, Vice President of Operations Heather Riggs, and Executive Vice President of Operations Paul Seifert.

To kick off this year’s Meeting, Community team members gathered virtually to celebrate several honorees for outstanding achievements in 2021. Meet our award winners below:

Steve Hildebrand Award

Steve Hildebrand was a Maintenance Supervisor with Continental for several years, always going Above and Beyond for the community and his residents. While Steve is no longer with us, he left a mark on Continental that lives on every single day. We continue to honor the impact he made on countless team members and residents through this award.

Brad Petrie

brad and heatherOur first Steve Hildebrand Award recipient, Brad Petrie, Maintenance Supervisor at Springs at Sandstone Ranch in Longmont, CO, shows his dedication to his community, residents, and team each day. Under his leadership, Springs at Sandstone Ranch has exceeded their maintenance KPIs. Brad works hard to ensure residents are comfortable and happy in their homes. He displays Above & Beyond service every day, from walking their dogs, to cooking dinner for a resident that was immobile due to a recent car accident, to finding a lost cat, to shoveling residents’ cars out to allow them to get to work on time, to taking tours when the office team is busy, and assisting other communities in times of need. Congratulations, Brad, and thank you for your dedication to our residents!

Josh Dalton

Heather and MTROur next Steven Hildebrand Award recipient has been the CEO of his area of responsibility ever since joining our team two years ago. Josh Dalton, Maintenance Supervisor at Springs at Hibiscus Crossing in Melbourne, FL, has been a resource for other Springs Apartments communities and has even stepped up at a moment’s notice to fill in as a leasing team member on the weekends. Josh aims to improve our resident experience and lives by our Pledge to our Customers, listening to all feedback with an open mind and an eagerness to improve. As a result of resident feedback, Josh added a compressor and tire gauge for residents to air up their tires at the car wash area and installed mirrors in blind spots throughout the community so residents could drive safer. Congratulations, Josh!

Rising Star Award

Continental’s growth provides many opportunities for our team members and this year we recognized four team members who demonstrated empowerment in their roles and took the initiative to embrace new opportunities to further develop themselves.

Vincent Nguyen

Vincent Nguyen, now a Maintenance Technician at Springs at Lakeline, started as a Make-Ready Tech supporting two Springs Apartments communities. From day one, Vincent has shown his “Think it”, “Do it”, and “Own it” mentality, quickly showing flexibility and growing into the role of Maintenance Technician. Vincent stepped up to assist his community when needed, serving as part of the glue that held everything together. Congratulations, Vincent, on being a Rising Star recipient and thank you for all your dedication and hard work.

Dustin Burns

This next award recipient hit the ground running when he joined Continental and immediately showed drive for results. A few weeks into his start with Continental, Dustin identified an opportunity to accomplish a large project in-house, which ultimately helped save time and money, and increased resident satisfaction.

dustin and ashleyAfter a few months with Continental, Dustin quickly partnered with his Community Manager to identify a plan to ensure our residents were cared for and the community was well maintained, exceeding work order completion goals and maintaining high resident satisfaction. Dustin also jumped in to help the office team when they were temporarily short-staffed, truly embracing Continental’s One Team mentality. Because of Dustin’s drive for results and ownership in their growth and development, he was promoted from Groundskeeper to Maintenance Technician after being on the team for only 3 months! Congratulations, Dustin, on your Rising Star Award!

Rebecca Goforth

rebecca and heatherRebecca Goforth, Community Manager at Authentix Quincy Street in Holland, MI, started with Continental in 2017 as a Leasing Associate. She has embraced every opportunity in front of her and demonstrated agility by welcoming the next challenge. Her drive for results and determination allowed her to take on her first Community Manager role, which was no easy assignment. After helping to rebuild devastation at our communities from back-to-back natural disasters in Louisiana, Rebecca headed north to lead our first Authentix community. Over the past year, Rebecca and her team have welcomed new Authentix residents home with high resident satisfaction ratings. Congratulations, Rebecca, on receiving the Rising Star Award and for elevating the customer experience from Kentucky to Louisiana to Michigan!

Community Manager of the Year

The role of a Community Manager is one of the most critical positions within our organization. They are responsible for successfully managing people, impacting our customer experience, and ensuring that our communities are well-maintained and financially solvent. This year we recognize two Community Manager of the Year award recipients.

Bambi Sullivan

Our first 2021 Community Manager of the Year award recipient proved to be bold in taking steps toward her professional development. In Q2 of 2021, Bambi Sullivan, a Multisite Community Manager for our Texas communities, was tasked with overseeing the completion of a large ongoing community project. She assisted in hiring and working with a new vendor to complete this project and worked to ensure residents were continuously informed about the project from start to finish. Bambi was dedicated to cultivating relationships with residents and keeping the community’s reputation front of mind.

IMG_4552Bambi showed her “Do It” attitude by flexing her leadership skills and being persistent in working towards community goals. In doing this, she drove her communities to a very successful finish of 2021 and led her teams to meet and exceed KPIs. Bambi is a great example of commitment, drive, and dedication. We are honored to have the opportunity to award Bambi Sullivan this year's Community Manager of the Year award. We appreciate you and all you have done for Springs at Alamo Ranch and Springs at Live Oak. Congratulations on your award!

Lisa Schockemoehl

Lisa and HeatherOur second 2021 Community Manager of the Year award recipient has led her team to accomplish unprecedented growth while also accepting the challenge to develop both personally and professionally. Lisa Schockemoehl from Springs at Palma Sola in Bradenton, FL, is passionate about setting others up for success and has coached both her team and several other Community Managers on how to successfully engage in challenging conversations while remaining professional, empathetic, and transparent. In 2021, Lisa oversaw several key exterior capital improvement projects to completion at Springs at Palma Sola. She and her team executed these invasive projects with minimal impact to resident satisfaction. Lisa’s dedication to agility and self-development is evident as she is always the first to “raise a hand” and volunteer to assist on the front lines of onboarding and training. She always puts our customers, her teammates and Continental first.

Lisa has been with Continental for over eight years and has consistently touched many team members with her optimism and empathy. We are lucky to have her as a part of our Continental family. Congratulations, Lisa, on being our Community Manager of the Year!

Leasing Associate of the Year

Lexi and HeatherThe Leasing Associate of the Year award is granted to the team member with the highest number of leases in the year. Meet Lexi Frisvold from Springs at Lakeville in Lakeville, MN! Lexi stepped up to the plate at Springs at Lakeville to take on additional tasks where needed while working to welcome residents home to our newest Minnesota community by achieving the highest number of leases in our portfolio!
