1. reVamp! salonspa

reVamp! gained national attention when it was featured on Oprah Winfrey's show in 1995. They haven't lost sight of their mission "to inspire beauty and enrich lives in a spirit of friendliness, professionalism and joy." Along with traditional spa services, they offer signature makeovers and "mankovers" that can include hair styling, makeup and wardrobe analysis.

2. Aveda Institute Minneapolis

If you want basic services and don't need all the bells and whistles, head to Aveda's training facility across the river from downtown. It's housed in a five-story historical building dating back to the 1920s, providing an elegant and relaxing ambiance. Haircuts start at just $17 and you can get a 60-minute facial or massage for only $45.

3. Estetica Salon & Day Spa

Estetica is in the historic Blair Arcade building located in St. Paul's Cathedral Hill District.
