Tips_for_Relocating-MN.jpgOur Springs at Apple Valley and Springs at Egan Drive communities combine the best of both worlds. You get a luxury apartment in a pleasant location with proximity to the urban delights of the Twin Cities.  If you're relocating to Apple Valley or Savage, use these steps to reduce the stress of moving and focus on the excitement of your new home.

Paving the Way

  • Is this a job-related move? Find out if your company offers any relocation assistance. Even if they don't foot any of the bills, you might be able to save money by using recommended services.
  • Bookmark the official websites for Apple Valley and Savage. They're great resources for information about municipal services such as police and fire, licensing and schools.
  • Don't make a special trip every time you need to check out your new apartment. We have helpful 3D floor plans that let you view a detailed layout and get ideas for furnishings and decor.
  • Start following accounts of local interest on Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms to get a first-hand feel of the area. It's also a good way to find others with common interests.
  • Talk to your current doctor and dentist about referrals. Depending on how far away you are, they may be able to furnish you with some names. If not, WebMD and the American Dental Association have databases you can search by location and specialty.

Settling In

  • Google Maps and other GPS apps will get you from one point to another, but they're not always useful for getting the big picture. Invest a few dollars in an old-school paper map and spend some time studying it.
  • Favorite artwork and other decorations will provide a sense of comfort, but consider buying a special item to commemorate your new home.
  • Break the ice with your new neighbors by asking for recommendations of restaurants or other favorite services. After all, you're not going to feel like cooking right away!
  • Exploring the parks and trails in Apple Valley and Savage is a no-cost, eco-friendly way to get some exercise while learning about your new surroundings.  And don't forget about our on-site leash-free dog parks!
  • Show off your new place to friends and family with Skype or FaceTime "tours."
  • Groupon, Living Social and other discount apps let you try out restaurants, hair salons and other services without breaking the bank.
