Celebrating St. Patrick's Day in Des Moines? Gather your friends and join the fun at the following pubs and community events that celebrate all things Irish!

1. Sully's Irish Pub
110 Grand Ave, West Des Moines

On St. Patrick's Day, the doors of Sully's Irish Pub open at 6 a.m. for a traditional Irish breakfast. At 8 a.m., take part in an Irish flag raising, and then join in the games, music, prizes and giveaways, which continue all day long. At 3 p.m., the heated tent opens, and the first 500 people to arrive will receive custom St. Pat's koozies. It's a party you won't want to miss!

2. Mickey's Irish Pub
206 3rd St, Des Moines

On Thursday, March 17, Mickey's Irish Pub is the site of Iowa’s largest Irish celebration. This year’s bash – it starts with breakfast at 6:00 a.m. and continues with a block party that starts at noon – is expected to see a crowd of at least 5,000 fans of all things Irish. It’s the place to be for green-colored beer, plenty of food, and lots of music and entertainment. Featured acts include Brushville, Dolewite and American Country.

3. 2016 St. Patrick's Day Parade
1620 Pleasant, Suite 241, Des Moines

On March 18, The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick sponsor the St. Patrick's Day Parade. With more than 100 entries, the parade is a festive community gathering. You'll hear Irish music and enjoy color guards and bands. Be sure to head out to the parade early to get a good spot.

4. St. Patrick's Day 10K and 5K Run/Walk
1620 Pleasant, Suite 241, Des Moines

Last but not least, don't miss the 33rd Annual St. Patrick's Day 10K and 5K. There are racing divisions for children and for adults up to 70-plus. The race is held on Sunday, April 3 at 11 a.m., starting just west of Sully's Irish Pub at 63rd and Grand. Proceeds from the race will be donated to local charities.
